‘Enhancement of Jordanian SMEs inclusiveness, competitivity and sustainable innovation’

This initiative aims to promote the Jordanian agribusiness SMEs to become reliable with competitive and safety quality products and services for new and future foreign markets, as well as for the domestic ones. This will be done by strengthening bilateral dialogues between the Jordanian agribusiness SMEs and with key players of the Italian Private Sector and herewith identifying necessary factors and requirements for Jordanian SMEs to expand their access opportunities to the European market. By strengthening the Jordanian SMEs capacities and skills, they will be empowered in increasing the standard quality and food safety for processing for an enhanced response to the international and Italian market challenges.
The project will be given the focus on local traditional produces, which have the potentialities to compete on the domestic and also on international markets. The project will focus particularly on the local products which demand fewer natural resources, particularly water for irrigation. During the inception phase the value chains of several typical local products have been analyzed in order to prepare adequately the Overall Working Plan. However, during the first’s months of the project’s implementation additional, in-deep, analysis will be done on these value chains. The prelaminar analysis has been by the project manager and by two CIHEAM Bari international experts that have done several missions in Jordan. In synthesis, CIHEAM Bari is proposed to the Project Steering Committee to work on the following value chains of local typical products.
