About JoSME

‘Enhancement of Jordanian SMEs inclusiveness, competitivity and sustainable innovation’

This initiative aims to promote the Jordanian agribusiness SMEs to become reliable with competitive and safety quality products and services for new and future foreign markets, as well as for the domestic ones. This will be done by strengthening bilateral dialogues between the Jordanian agribusiness SMEs and with key players of the Italian Private Sector and herewith identifying necessary factors and requirements for Jordanian SMEs to expand their access opportunities to the European market.

CIHEAM Bari

The Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM Bari) is the Italian headquarters of the intergovernmental organization CIHEAM (Centre International de Hautes Études Agronomiques Mediterranéennes), gathering 13 Mediterranean countries.

Established in 1962, CIHEAM Bari is a Center for post-graduate higher education, applied research, and development cooperation. CIHEAM Bari’s activities address issues linked to sustainable agriculture at large, such as food security, poverty alleviation, strengthening institutional capacity, efficient use of natural resources, exploitation of agricultural production and productivity, promotion of organic farming, development of sustainable food systems, climate change adaptation, integrated management of coastal areas, women empowerment, fishing, and aquaculture.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI)​

The Foreign Ministry is responsible for the State’s functions, his tasks and duties concern Italy’s political, economic, social and cultural relations with other countries.
Ensure that the international and European activities of Italy’s other ministries and government offices are consistent with the country’s international policy objectives.

Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS)

AICS – the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation – is one of the key innovations established by the Italian law on international cooperation (Law No. 125/2014).
The Agency began operating in January 2016, with the aim of aligning Italy with its principal European and global partners in the endeavor of development.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply (MoITS); ​

The MoITS takes on the responsibilities of regulating the industry by type, classifying and registering it according to internal regulation, and preparing the programs and studies that work on developing the industry and increasing its competitiveness.

The Ministry also takes on the task of regulating internal and external trade, monitoring it, and preparing the studies and agreements that protect the interest of the country and the citizen. Finally, The Ministry takes upon itself the study of trade and industrial blocks and authorities, Arab and international, recommending to the Council of Ministers ways to deal with them, the feasibility of joining them, and showing their effect on the national economy.

Jordan, officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is a country in Western Asia. It is situated at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe, within the Levant region, on the East Bank of the Jordan River. Jordan is bordered by Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, the Palestinian West Bank, and Israel. It has a 26 km coastline on the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea. Amman is Jordan’s capital and largest city, as well as its economic, political, and cultural center. Jordan is a semi-arid country, covering an area of 89,342 km2, with a population of 10 million. Jordan is considered an upper-middle-income economy. The Agri-food sector is among the most important economic sectors in Jordan and has substantially contributed to Jordan’s economic and social development.
